Scarlett Johansson: 'I'm not promiscuous'

For those that are interested... a few more comments on manogamy, along the lines of Sienna Miller's... sort of... from CNN.com:

NEW YORK (AP) -- Scarlett Johansson says that while monogamy might go against instinct, she's happy in her relationship with boyfriend and recent "Black Dahlia" co-star Josh Hartnett.

"Josh is very sweet," the 21-year-old actress says in an interview in Allure magazine's November issue, on newsstands October 24. "He's a good boy. A great person. I'm very lucky and I'm very happy. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not promiscuous.

"There does seem to be a mistaken belief out there that I am sexually available somehow -- which is not to say that I'm not open-minded about sex," she continues. "Yet I wouldn't say I'm a serial monogamist, either. I mean, I went through periods of time when I was, ah, single. But when I'm in a relationship, I'm in a relationship."

But Johansson, whose films include "Lost in Translation" and "Match Point," still acknowledges monogamy might not be natural.

"I do think on some basic level we are animals, and by instinct we kind of breed accordingly," she says. "But as much as I believe that, I work really hard when I'm in a relationship to make it work in a monogamous way."

Johansson also encourages testing for sexually transmitted diseases.

"I get tested for HIV twice a year. ... One has to be socially aware," she says. "It's part of being a decent human, to be tested for STDs. It's just disgusting behavior when people don't. It's so irresponsible."

I am glad she is speaking up about getting tested.
I can't believe how taboo it is to some people still but it is so very important!

I agree, I totally respect Scarlett for saying that, hopefully it'll make people realise how vital it is to get tested

Geez, is she THAT sexually active?! How many partners does she have every year?

I never really thought Scarlett was promiscuous so I guess I'm surprised that she gets around enough to have to be tested multiple times a year.

Just stop having sex; it saves you time and money

^ I agree, I thought twice a year was a bit much. I guess you can never be too safe, but that is fairly often... Oh well, to each their own.

You know what? I'm gonna become famous and marry my high school sweetheart at twenty one and stay with him forever. Because all of these hoochie mama stars who don't believe in monogamy are really sending the message that they're full of themselves... they think we all want/need a piece of them, and that is certainly not the case!

Testing twice a year is normal. That's ever six months which physicians
recommend. Plus it doesn't mean a man or a woman is rabidly f*cking
every face they see out on the street. You can get tested, and be negative.
Then six months later you get tested and you can still be positive for HIV.
Again, it makes since for her to get tested twice a year....

Thanks, I was just about to say that. Every six months isn't very regular IMO, I think people whom are extremely active should get tested every 3 months.

Condoms aren't always 100%, and even if she is using condoms being tested for STDs/HIV is just being a responsible member of society.
