Santa Clarita, July 10, 2006 - Sentencing was postponed today to Aug. 1st for fashion model Beverly Peele, who pleaded no contest in May to an identity theft charge. The 31-year-old Saugus resident was initially accused last year of finding a wallet in a shopping cart, copying the credit card numbers and then returning the wallet to its owner.
The wallet's owner later received billings on her credit card statement for items she did not purchase, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's Detective John Howard. Another person also received similar billings after he used his credit card at John Robert Powers, the modeling agency where Peele works, the detective said.
Although the items were ordered under the names of the owners of the credit cards, they were delivered to Peele's home address, giving investigators a clear paper trail to follow, Howard said.
Peele was arrested in December after investigators searched her home and seized Sears and Maytag appliances, including a refrigerator, washer and dryer and furniture allegedly bought between September and December. The 6 ft. tall Peele has been modeling since she was eleven and has been featured on the cover of more than 250 magazines.
ditto, though without the recent victim bit and i hope you get all your things back and all that!
Thanks I'm sorry it happened to you also...it's such a hassle. At least banks are really good about not making you pay for the fraudulent charges, but I'm still out my beautiful LV wallet
who is this? I've never even heard of her before! When I opened this page and saw her pic I thought it had to do with the Naomi story, and that THIS girl tried to impersonate Naomi at that one store! my bad!
