Two Laguna Beach Breakups

So Lauren chose love over a Paris Internship and this is what happens.

Is there something in the water? Us Weekly has learned that former Laguna Beach stars Lauren “LC” Conrad, 20 (now on spinoff The Hills), and Kristin Cavallari, 19, have split from their beaus.

Conrad confirms the split exclusively to Us. “Yes it is true, Jason and I are no longer together, but out of respect for his privacy I am not going to discuss the details of the breakup,” she says.

“Even though I am on a reality based show and I live much of my life in a fish bowl, I think anyone would understand that I need to keep some of my life private.”

Sources tell Us that it was Conrad who broke it off with boyfriend Jason Wahler. “He had been going out to clubs, flirting with girls, staying out late,” says a pal of Conrad’s.

“She wanted to focus on school and her career and was ready to move on. She feels really good about her decision.”

A second source adds she had a JASON tattoo covered up at the Hart & Huntington tattoo parlor at the Palms Casino resort last weekend when she and fellow Hills star Heidi Montag were visiting Sin City.

Meanwhile, a friend of Cavallari’s says that she and Brody Jenner, 23, split because “they fought a lot.” Jenner who works as a music producer with stepdad David Foster tells Us, “It was mutual.”

Frankly, I love Laguna Beach and The Hills..it's very clear that Kristen wants to be the next "Famous for doing Nothing Girl" and that's fine....at least she's cute and has some sort of personality, unlike some people

I don't mind Lauren, but her giving up an internship like that so she could lie on the beach all day with her boyfriend made me wonder about how serious she was about making it in the industry. Everything is being handed to you on a silver platter and you still turn it down?? WTF is that all about?

On another note - after quoting Lauren stating that she didn't want the details of her breakup to be discussed, the article goes on to quote a friend dishing the very details ... how respectful of both the friend and the mag.

Ugh, Lauren's boyfriend is such a slimy guy....you could totally see the break-up coming a mile away. Ew, he's so gross!

The Hills is as bad, if not worse, than Laguna Beach. On LB they were all a bunch of high school kids wasting time doing nothing....on The Hills she's an 'adult' with a real job and real work to do yet she somehow manages to waste time . They're not 'kids' anymore so there's no excuse for them to act like 13 year-olds!

Lauren and Heidi (the lazies bum on the planet) sit around complaining about how hard it is to have a job and go to school when they both live in these really glamorous apartments and drive really nice cars and probably have their college paid for as well. Somehow 'making ends meet' doesn't seem to be a problem for either of them

Also, it's about time she ditched him. He totally pissed me off and was so awkward on camera. I don't understnad how they ever had anything in the first place. He was so boring and always either said something dumb or said something forced and unnatural. WHich is also annoying. And yeah I watched a few episodes. Hey! The fashion show episode was good! Except I felt bad for Lauren because they gave her SUCH a hard time and her friend got to be IN it!

yea she has a lot of good things going for her and should just focus on her career for now, Jason definitely is not worth jeopardizing that. I was sooooo addicted to the show and thought she was kind of dumb for choosing Jason and his scratchy beard over Paris!

PEOPLE confirms

Laguna Beach stars Lauren "L.C." Conrad and Jason Wahler have split up, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"Its true. Lauren broke up with him last week," Conrad's rep, Nicole Perez, tells PEOPLE.

Being single isn't slowing Conrad down a bit: The 20-year-old, who now appears on The Hills, took a trip to Las Vegas last weekend with her girlfriends, including Hills pal Heidi Montag.

Meanwhile, Wahler, 19, partied in Los Angeles over the weekend at Les Deux with Laguna pal Stephen Colletti. Wahler, wearing Adidas track pants and a t-shirt, got wild on the dance floor, according to a source.

"He was all over the place," says an onlooker, "Every time I saw him, he was talking to a different girl."

Wahler's partying ways contributed to the couple's breakup, a source tells PEOPLE.

This is not the first time they've split. The pair broke up last August, then reunited. "We're pretty serious now," Conrad told PEOPLE in May.

As for the future, Conrad plans to return to L.A.'s Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in the fall, and will film a second season of The Hills.
