Acne Paper Sweden

Does anyone know if any stores in New York city stock Acne Paper magazine?
Online retailers would also be great. The acne web shop does not ship to the US, unfortunately. Thanks in advance!!

luckyme, you just signed up for the newsletter at the acne jeans website and they send it for free?
because on the acne paper website, you have to pay for a subscription...
that's fantastic if true!

My mag store is finally stocking this & I just got issue #5. This is one of the most brilliant magazines I have ever seen but it is especially a wonderful read. I'm in love. The theme of issue #5 is Elegance & the Guest Editor is Lars Nilsson. The contributors are: Albert Cocker, Anja Stang, Geir Haraldseth, Hans Feurer, Jacob Brown, Jenny Vågan, Jean-Louis Blondeau, Jonas Raam, Johanna Agerman, Joanna von Mulder, Katerina Jebb, Mats Gustafson, Paul Wetherell, Peter Schlesinger, Peter McNeil & Sarah Moon. The interviews...to name a few...are with Jarvis Cocker & Camille Bidault-Wallington, Manolo Blahnik, Sabisha, Lesage & Alber Elbaz (honestly I cried when I read his interview...it was wonderful!)

^ sounds like quite a treat. I cannot wait for your scans, missmag. I rarely see material from this magazine even though I keep hearing about it.

Lol, I found 'Acne Paper' at my local newspaper stand in DC near my school in this little strip mall. I was all ; if you're in DC it was at that 2000 Penn news store.

It seemed...ok. Wasn't crazy about it, just like an oversized mag on newspaper paper.

Ah oops, NYC. Don't know; I still would love to know why the heck that newsstand had it.

I investigated this only to find out the shipping cost is 50 Euros. Ridiculous.

Elegant and oversize, with arresting fashion imagery and interviews that read like wonderful dinner conversation, this semiannual publication is something you savor in bed. “We wanted to make a magazine that made you forget the world around you,” said its editor, Thomas Persson, from its base in Paris. The spring issue (which explores the idea of exoticism) does just that. A couture shoot by Katerina Jebb; a portfolio of work by Robert Mapplethorpe, Peter Beard and Guy Bourdin; and a talk with a member of the legendary theater troupe the Cockettes are among the exotics inside.

Acne Paper #7 | Fall 2008 | Guinevere Van Seenus by Daniel Jackson

Quote:
THE LANGUAGE OF FASHION: The seventh issue of the biannual Acne Paper, which will launch tonight with a party at the New York Public Library, has a few unlikely interview subjects, though none more so than Noam Chomsky. The MIT linguist agreed to speak to correspondent Karin Strom about the nature of trends in language after receiving an interview request from editor in chief Thomas Persson, who sent along back copies of the magazine, which included an interview with philosopher Ken Wilber. “It was interesting to speak to Chomsky about language because it is something we use everyday, a subject of great tradition, but also of constant change — not unlike fashion, if you think about it,” explained Persson.

The magazine’s fall-winter issue, which features a fashion layout with Guinevere Van Seenus shot by Daniel Jackson as well as an interview with and photo essay by Nan Goldin, focuses on “tradition,” emphasizing established — though not entirely obvious — players in design, photography, politics, art and sport (the latter subject highlighted by an interview with 1972 Olympic gold medal gymnast Olga Korbut). While Persson, whose Sweden-based company has grown to include film, digital and advertising departments, said the magazine isn’t intended to “promote the Acne clothes, but rather to reflect the creative culture that is Acne,” and the fashion pages include plenty of Acne credits, from a mesh top to a black knit hat (Dries Van Noten, Junya Watanabe and Jonathan Saunders also make appearances). Rounding out the cast of subjects in the issue, which has a print run of 25,000 and will be available in bookstores, galleries and museums, are Fashion Institute of Technology fashion historian Valerie Steele; Rupert Thomas, editor in chief of The World of Interiors, and Robert Watson, whose official title is Head of the Guild of Professional English Butlers.
