Well, I actually for some reason thought i-D was a product design magazine. I have no idea how I got that impression.
I'm going to check out that thread now, haven't seen it yet, hopefully you can order it online or find it in New York.
No, that's I.D. (Industrial Design). I got confused too, initially. You can get A in two locations in New York - Yohji Yamamoto boutique (where Softie and I got our copies), and St.Marks Book Shop (last I checked they were still waiting for their shipment to arrive). PM me if you decide to get a copy for sure and if you need help locating/getting one.
A mag is edited by guest designers, each time there is someone else putting the whole issue up..
i'm not a huge fan of i-D either,
some issues are cute but its been a bit too 'niche' (like for skaters) lately?
btw, its a monthly, UK 'young fashion/lifestyle' publication cerfas
hahahah i don't doubt it, faust! :> i hope people do not think i am overly serious...or easily offended, im not. online communication can be really stilted and bad way of communicating.
Thanks lena and faust for the clarifications about i-D.
And princeofcats--heheh. eek.
Isn't 'A' magazine Terry Richardson's porn mag? Or am I thinking of something totally different.
No, you're thinking of RICHARDSON, which is a softcore porn/fashion magazine by stylist Andrew Richardson. No relation to Terry. He does a lot of work with Mario Sorrenti and David Sims. Great stylist. But RICHARDSON comes out very, very seldomly. In fact, I haven't seen it in about a year.
And that is more the philosophy I think that governs Purple--not perfect or careful documentation of clothing, not polished fashion images, but imperfect depiction of the intersection of life and fashion. Well, that's what it does when it's at its best. When it's not, it's ineffective and boring. I think that is a good assessment of what I found so appealling about Purple.
I think that's a really great way to sum up Purple and a lot of the magazines like it.

I've also seen it at Universal News at Broadway and Broome. But I think they sell out of stock quite often. 212.965.9042
