Hilary Swank tells the January W magazine (on newsstands nationwide December 25) what she thinks of her last three films being box office busts: "It's the business of a lottery, for lack of a better word. All you have control over is how hard you choose to work. After that, you do your press, and then you let it go. Of course you want something you've given birth to to do well. But why sit there and lament over what you don't have control over?"
More:
ON BEING IN LOVE WITH HER BOYFRIEND, FORMER AGENT JOHN CAMPISI... "Of course I'm in love. Or I wouldn't be in this relationship for as long as I've been. He's a great guy."
ON THE 45 SUPPLEMENTS SHE TAKES EVERYDAY IN ADDITION TO HER VITAMIN INJECTIONS... "This is my Aloe C, which I dissolve in water. Here's my flax. This one's for my immune system, and this one is my BrainWave--it's great, like if I have a lot of lines to memorize. I just took my most important ones, which are my Oz Garcia Longevity Pak. I shoved them in my mouth right before I met you, which I actually shouldn't do, because I choked on my vitamins once before."
ON JEFF ROBINOV'S, THE PRESIDENT OF PRODUCTION AT WARNER BROS., ALLEGED CLAIM THAT THEY WILL NO LONGER BE DOING MOVIES WITH FEMALE LEADS DUE TO RECENT BOX OFFICE DUDS... "Who knows if Jeff really said that or not. I think that's still up for debate. He says he didn't say it, and I know that people attribute things to me that I didn't say. But speaking in general, I think it's really naive to say, 'Oh, a woman's vehicle is not successful,' because men's movies have failed at the box office too. Look, I don't want to name names, but there's been lots of movies starring men--with big names!--that didn't do well."
ON WHY SHE LEFT NEW YORK CITY... "I looked and looked and looked for a place in New York. I just didn't find anything. Prices have just skyrocketed!"
ON HER METABOLISM... "I have a really high metabolism. Exercise is also really important to me. I think it gives me more energy. I would rather sleep six hours and get an hour workout than sleep seven hours."
ON HER CRAZY SCHEDULE..."In the past four and a half weeks, I've been to London, Texas, Chicago, China, New York, L.A. and New York again. You know, it's tiring, but I can't complain, because I'm getting to do what I love."
I was following the pack all swallowed in their coats with scarves of red tied ’round their throats to keep their little heads from fallin’ in the snow and I turned ’round and there you go and, Michael, you would fall and turn the white snow red as strawberries in the summertime..
I just got it in the mail today. I'm not particularly a huge fan of Hilary Swank, but I think she looks beautiful on the cover. When it first came out of the mailbox I thought it was Kiera Knightly for a second (I think it was upside down too though).
And yes it is very thin.
W Fashion Flash is "Opening Act - A sexy-sweet seventies vibe informs the pre-spring collections."
ph: Claudia Knoepfel and Stefan Indlekofer; styled:Katie Mossman
models: Taryn D/DNA and Egle/Major
"Wait Until Dark-Hollywood heavy hitter Hilary Swank steams up the lens with and erotic fashion fantasy..."
ph: Steven Klein; styled: Alex White; model: Luke Warrel
great cover! And is the Claudia Knoepfel and Stefan Indlekofer the main ed or a front of book story?

I like the cover, like someone said it's nineties but i think in a good way. However, no fashion edits??? I'm starting to fear that conde nast may be thinking of pulling the plug!
^^ Well, there is "Opening Act", isn't that an editorial? (I've never heard of the ph's before, so I'm really waiting to see it)
Besides, January issues are always thinner than usual so you can't really judge by them...(I'm not so sure about english idioms, "pulling the plug" equals closing the magazine, right?)
The cover is very nice, I love the pale blue dress and the simplicity of it all. its nice to see something that is this minimalist. Hilary looks great - she's always seemed like a very nice person to me. Everything I've heard about her from people she's worked with tells me that she's a decent and hardworking person. This is a great shot the styling of her hair and the makeup compliment everything. It just looks cool and fresh.
