Themes and Variations wall plates

Piero Fornasetti (1951)

Quote:

Piero Fornasetti's graphic art often re-worked a single idea over and over again, allowing his imagination run free to develop new concepts.

The most famous of these ideas - the Themes and Variations, illustrated variations on the image of an enigmatic, almost Mona Lisa-like face of a woman. The woman was Lina Cavalieri, whose face Fornasetti found while glancing through a 19th Century French magazine.

Originally four plates were designed by Piero Fornasetti - the plate series now has 350 variations.

How about Dale Chihuly bowls? Definitely not something you'd eat breakfast out of, but they're bowls nonetheless. I've got loads of his books and pieces in my house because my dad knows him.

I'm glad, Chrissy.. that style of drawing really works on plates (when most don't )

limited edition plates designed by a dozen contemporary artists

Yes I believe it's glass coated with fur, cause you can see from the picture,
a glass looking material...But I'm too lazy to confirm it...
