I also have these big Moomintroll comics made of really thick card, like books made for babies. It's half written like a children's storybook with writing, and then you have some parts like a comic where the characters talk to eachother.
The stories are based off the Japanese cartoon, I think; so the illustrations and stories are not by Tove Jansson...

Hee, thanks qius for starting this thread. I know next to nothing about comics/sequential art and their long history, but the ones you've posted are really charming. Um, since the only stuff I've seen that could be shared in this thread are the ones I've read in the daily newspaper, I'll add this Calvin and Hobbes comic (the last ever for those not familiar with it) because it makes me smile sadly whenever I see it:
source: it was from this site: http://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/ but the comics there change daily, so I don't remember when I first saved this one. I hope that will suffice. :-/

Ooh thanks for sharing, drifter-sister
I always see this comic everywhere. Must be very famous
For history of comics, I found this link for "History of Dutch Comics"
It's very interesting, the change in content and style, through the times http://lambiek.net/dutchcomics/index.htm
The original by the way is in French, as Mr Sfar is from France.
There used to be a show on arts & culture on TV5 called 'Soluble dans l'air' SO.D.A. and there was an episode on Joann Sfar. They showed a clip of his comic made into a cartoon.. 'petit vampire;' and there is one dubbed in Finnish too, I think 'pikky vampyrri'
Here are 2 clips I captured from there:
^I don't get this comic at all and I'm German
When I was a little kid I used to read all the comics I could get, now I only read Tim&Struppi (in French it's Tintin et Milou, don't know the English name though), Calvin&Hobbes, sometimes Matilda and of course the great
Donald Duck

I thought I was the only one on this site that was into comics...
I grew up reading the Archie Digests and Double Digests, but my favorites were/are Batman/Detective Comics, Superman/Action Comics, Green Lantern, and Justice League from DC...
