Yeah like :

bill and check
postman and mailman
lift and elevator
pavement and sidewalk
holiday and vacation

My problem is that I'm often not sure which is american and which is english

the one I find funnyest is when americans say fannypack meaning a bumbag. Where I live a fanny is a female sex organ!

we need to go back on topic....

I was in a really cool interiors shop in Glasgow a couple of weeks ago - amazing fabrics & wallpapers - apparently they have just designed the interior of some fancy big appartment block in NYC. I tried to find their website but I couldn't find it.....

pulled this from the Interior decor thread because it looked like it could be an interesting, free-standing thread
