Favorite Architect or Building

i have a friend who is working as an architect in Dubai atm.
she claims that buildings are sold to clients when they are still in the conceptual stages, because they all seem to want statement pieces.
quite interesting when you think about other cities where planning and zoning regulations would make all these things ridiculously hard to get approved.

i am really inlove with Shigeru Ban's designs lately.
they're really elegant.
i really enjoy the use of fabrics and their adaptability.

all the spaces he creates are just so clean, but at the same time really exciting. i think a lot of Japanese architects are really talented in that they are able to keep it simple yet still have a single, subtle element to their designs that really gives the spaces they create a certain quirk or personality.

his work with paper and cardboard is exceptional too. quite forward thinking.

do u guys think architects have as much 'personal style' as do other designers for other fields/artists... ie. you can sense the difference btwn a oscar de la renta to a prada...

shigeru ban seems to stand out --i feel materials are an integral part in the creating of his works

Matay- those are stunning homes!!! Wow! I love that curtain house, I'd love to be able to walk through that home and spend a few days there.

It has to be the Chrysler building designed by William van Alen for me.
It's nearly eighty years old and yet it still looks ultra-modern.
It's just absolutely stunning.
I'm such a push-over for art deco.

Studio Daniel Libeskind's design study was selected in February 2003 as the master site plan for the rebuilding of the World Trade Center Site. In addition to a towering spire of 1776 feet, the plan proposed a complex program which called for the construction of a memorial with waterfalls, an underground museum, a visitor center, retail space, a special transit hub and four office towers spiraling to the height of the Freedom Tower.

I saw this building yesterday on my visit to Manchester and I was just blown away; I didn't know such modern architecture (and at such heights) existed in Britain.
I hate the colours of the windows and the part that sticks up on the top but the top-heavy shape I just adore.
