I hate the Starck Voltaire.... it's so unconfortable!!!! and more unconfortable when you're a bit "fat" (for instance my father can't even sit well in those!)

But I love the "classic" Voltaire

lyon-entreprises.com

and those chairs by Marcel Breuer :

steelform.com

moma.org

we have the last one at my office and they are amazing!!!
my grandmother has the first one for her "homebar" and it's unbreakable, she has them for more than 25yrs and even my father never broke them!!!

and I ab. want a Louis XV style meridian (long chair) :

www.faccents.com
this is just amazing and beautiful and wunderbar!!!

My "past future" favorite!

Eero Aarnio Bubble chair designed by Eero Aarnio in 1968. This chair is also known as the Bing Bong chair. As Ludwig Mies van der Rohe said: Less is more! This chair is a beautiful masterpiece of reduction. This chair can be found in museum collections and has been feutured in numerous movie- and television sets as well as advertising, music videos, etc. One of the most iconic chairs ever made! The chair has removable cushions and hangs from the ceiling. The lenght of the chain can be changed as well.

The Bubble chair gives a new, extraordinary idea of what a rocking chair can be. It is amazing how comfortable one can sit a in such a shiny, oversized welcoming chair and rocking side-, back- and forwards.

The cushion of the Bubble Chair can be made in either leather or taifun silver fabric. Includes 6.6 feet of chain and hook for ceiling mounting.

Size: 41.5" diameter x 42.5" height x 31.5" deep.
Materials: fiberglass.

Color Options of Pillows (pictured from top to bottom):
Leather Light Grey
Leather Black
Leather Silver
Leather Red
Leather White
Taifun Fabric Silver (100% polyurethane)

Fashion trends are usually a year or two ahead of those in home furnishings, but this year is different: metallics are big, and to mark the 50th anniversary of Eero Saarinen’s Tulip collection of furniture — the classic pedestal chairs and tables — Knoll is offering them in platinum. All Tulip furniture ordered between now and Aug. 1, 2008, in any color (white, black or platinum) will have a commemorative medallion on the underside. The Tulip armchair, above, is $1,093. For locations: (866) 945- 6655 or knoll.com.

I think I'm the one person in the world against the Ghost series. They are both attractive and clever at the same time, but I feel like everyone has them. They just aren't as interesting when they've been everywhere. I love Starck, but he's so mainstream. However, this newer chair from him is beautiful. It's called "Miss Lacy". It even reminds me of Tord Boontje, which makes it even better!

to look at..

looks a bit uncomfortable...
and all i can think of are the marks/impressions that would be left on the back of someone's thighs if they were wearing shorts or a short skirt

"Miss Lacy". it's tdf, he made her to Driade!!!

u're not the only one that is against the Ghost chairs, I love them, they are very cool specially because they match with everything, but they are everywhere now, even at Habitat, which BTW is Area. He made them in 2001 but people only found them in 2004 and since then every store has them, they came in every magazine and this entire marketing make people tiered of them. They are smart and intelligent chair, he reinvents the Louis XV in a brilliant way, and I just don’t like the ones with the faces in the back.
It appends the same with Panton chair, they were in every place, magazine, store and now every time I get in to the kitchen and look at my Pantos chair and I think “ I must give them away”… which is quite sad!!!
