What's in a Vase?

Once again, stumbled on some stuff that I thought might make for a cool thread...

There are always all sorts of different trends when it comes to vases for flower arrangements, or just for decoration...
ranging from simple to intricate..
some steal the show, while others let what they hold take the limelight...

anyway.. here are some examples of vases or vase covers that I thought were interesting..

please feel free to share your finds!

These are silver-metal vase covers designed by Tord Boontje...
I'm guessing these photos don't really do them justice..

Vases made from recycled glass/bottles..
designs by Emma Woffenden and Tord Boontje

artechnica.com

Duo Vase, Stem Vase, Two Hole Vase, Cut Vase, Double Vase

Because of the nature of these and the fact that they are made of recycled materials, each piece is a little different which is great

Kiki Smith for Steuben glass... I'll see if I can find a better picture of the actual vase...
I thought it was pretty interesting and definitely a departure from the norm for Steuben, which traditionally produces really precise and tidy pieces..

nice thread . i'm always looking for interesting vases or anything to disguise my lackluster flower arrangments, so i'll have to check this thread often.

those silver-metal vase covers are so innovative and such a good idea...i have a few boring vases that i wouldn't mind concealing!

great thread chrissy

the recycled glass / bottles are my favourite....
they remind me of finding glass washed up on the beach that has been smoothed after so much time in the water....it was always one of my favourites things to collect as a child...
