^Hey - I wasn't saying it was a bad development! I'm just amused at where this is all heading..... I'm all for the 'everyone will be famous for 15 mins' thing......
I see, I'm not negative, but tend to get cynical. These things are interesting, as new development in the world, I like this MySpace thing because it is so world wide, it is accesible to just about everyone.

I don't think it's accessible to just about everyone. There is already strong hierarchy, ranks, etc. in myspace just like the real world/high school. It's no different really. I hope this trend dies down - who knows. Hopefully it will become over saturated. It's boring and I don't really like it as a trend.
hmm i think any myspacers who have gained anytype of media recognition for their fashion clout will always be generic scenesters or models who probably already have a thread/ get most of their clothes for free which is the same as being born of priviledge so nothing they wear counts so unsless we can post pictures of complete randoms its gonna be tough.
and obviously money CAN BUY STYLE. clothes are consumer goods. couple cash with a slight fashion insight and bam. i actually give more repsect to the rich brat who parents buy them expensive **** than i do to the full time student who blows a months rent on a miu miu bag. keep it status quo, yo.
Knock, Knock.
Please, keep this on-topic, guys!
All the analysis on society should be left for another time at the café, same for 5 pages filled with one particular face, this is about an online community and as such, we should see variety and not turn this around some specific someone... These are REGULAR people, it doesn't matter if they pretend to be otherwise so please, all the whinning about their chances in life is not relevant anymore and it certainly does not help for a healthy run of this thread, we are here to discuss STYLE, so let's just bring it on and also, let's see DIFFERENT faces on every page. ENJOY!

Due to the overwhelming popularity of the first installation of MySpace Muse, we’re kicking off 2007 with another stylist babe who’s also assuredly on (fashion) point. It is with great pleasure that we present to you Rebecca, 19, a Laurel Canyon-dwelling, UCLA art school attending girl with flair. She gives great answer, so don’t miss out reading about all that she loves and hates in fashion and Los Angeles proper.
1. What handbag are you wearing right now? I’ve been switching between a yellow Balenciaga motorcycle bag and a vintage brown Bottega that belonged to my dear mother. Both are in dire need of repair. 2. What are you currently coveting? Twin Peaks dvds, Chloe patent oxfords, insects in glass, and Katy Rodriguez dresses from Resurrection, 3. Favorite Bands? Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks, Brother Reade, Simon Dawes, T.I., Three 6 Mafia, Talking Heads, Cat Stevens, The Like, and Phoenix. 4. Where do you shop?* As a starving college student I don’t shop as much as I’d like but when opportunity permits, I shop at Resurrection, Necromance, Madison, Playclothes, Milk, The Way We Wore, White Trash Charms, Decades, Slow, and Forever 21. *(For all store information, see The Little Black Book, located on the top left side of WWWD’s homepage) 5. Favorite online stores? I’m not very talented with the “interweb,” but I do like to search eBay every now and then. I’ve been known to frequent the iTunes store, too, where you can get Law and Order: SVU episodes. 6. What fashion magazines do you read? W, Vogue, Blackbook, WWD, and Teen Vogue (because I’m still a teenager). 7. What trends do you love? I love sweeeet mini dresses. I refuse to accept that it’s extremely cold outside, so I have now added tights. The look is mini dresses, tights, and platforms. 8. What trends do you hate? I hate big sunglasses, purposefully mismatched outfits, and underage drinking. 9. Favorite things to do with your free time?* When I gather the energy to leave the house, I spend all my time hanging out with my best friend Spencer. We enjoy the following activities including, but not limited to: seeing movies at the ArcLight, walking our dogs on Runyon, karaoke, going to the Natural History Museum, Teddy’s and Hyde, The Dime, occasionally seeing shows at the Troubadour, being awesome, reading magazines at Borders, eating at El Compadre, Magnolia, Figaro, Ita-Cho, La Buca, Larchmont Village Wine, Spirits & Cheese, Damiano Mr. Pizza, and Taco Bell. Please take notice of the obscene amount of space I just devoted to restaurants. *(For all restaurant information, see The Little Black Book, located on the top left side of WWWD’s homepage.) 10. What are you perfect going-out/party shoes? My friend Spencer’s forest green, suede Hermes boots. 11. What are your shoes for day? White Jack Purcells. 12. Who are your style icons? These may be obvious answers but my icons include Jane Birkin, Patti Smith and Winona Ryder in the 90’s. 13. Favorite designers? Ossie Clark, Katy Rodriguez, Norma Kamali, Chloe, Prada, Lanvin, and Jovovich-Hawk. 14. What are your favorite fashion photography books? Anything by Richard Avadon. 15. What are you must-read blogs? Ehh, I dont really read blogs, but it would be a lie to say I didn’t stop by perezhilton every other day. The man is quite a comic.
she's haRley viera-newton and alice, alex and charlotte dellal are her cousins. they are of brazilian descent. the dellals' mother andrea was a successful model in the '70s and they live in england. alice is a beautiful party-girl turned photographer and was in the london-scene-themed burberry ads this fall. charlotte is a successful shoe designer. [alex is their brother a partier] their dad is a shipping or something mogul. harley's dad is in music. harley and clara were in the tints and clara's dad is flea balzary - guitarist for the red-hot chilli peppers whose wife and mother of his baby sunny be-bop is THE FRANKIE RAYDER. so before harley was famous with tfs or anyone for that matter she had connections to kate moss [was/is frankie rayder's best friend], the richest of london, and the richest of LA [who don't really matter cause LA has never been known for style until cory kennedy]. i am probbaly missing a lot but harley is no normal girl and [although i don't mean to bash] i have been her mysapce friend since 2004 and her new ventures on thecobrasnake are just her filling her absence of successful band / attention she used to get / she lives in new york finally rather than la so she's taking advantage of the opp she has to become a 'style icon' / by the way she has lost LOADS of weight / her face isn't pretty either, sorry
aye aye i have to make a disclaimer saying i absolutely aaaaaaadddddddoooooorrrreeeeeee cory kennedy

In my defense, I started this thread and named it Harley Newton as she's the only one from the cobrasnake/myspace gang that stands out to me, I have little interest in the others. It was the MODS who changed it into the MySpace Appreciation thread halfway through ( ) That's why the earlier half of the thread is just on Harley.
oh goodness people!! We don't want a trillion threads based on random myspace people because it clutters it up and honestly if you want to go and love up everyone from the cobrasnake or myspace, do it there. In the past we had asked people if they wanted to have individual threads where they could post pictures of their everyday style a la style diary and people turned it down! It was also completely unfair to allow a Harley thread and to not allow a Jackson thread. I felt a myspace style thread would be a happy medium and a place for people to post about people who are not 'stars' but style they like from this circle. We are debating allowing individual threads in street style but sometimes I wonder why I even bother.
I don't think there should be threads for individuals in Streetstyle. To me, streetstyle is all about celebrating the style of anonymous individuals. Not knowing anything about the person in the photo allows the viewer to focus solely on the clothes, accessories and styling -- not how much money the person has, how well-connected their daddy is, or what sort of semi-famous folks they hang out with.
HBoogie made a good point about not having individual person threads in Streetstyle. That makes sense to me. But with the rise of party photo sites, streetstyle photo sites, MySpace, blogs, etc., I am beginning to see a real desire for an outlet on tFS where we can "love up" and analyze the style of some of our local hometown and Internet style heroes individually.
I wish that I had had the opportunity, that Meg mentioned, to give my feedback on the possibility of threads for individuals, but unfortunately I didn't come across the request at the time. I hope I am not stepping out of line here, but I don't feel that a MySpace appreciation thread will be enough in the upcoming months. Perhaps there should be a separate Sub-Forum for such individuals--much like the Streetstyle sub-forum in the Trendspotting forum or the Icons of the Past sub-forum in the Star Style forum. That way, each person could have his/her own thread, thereby eliminating the need for debate over individual threads for semi-celebs in Streetstyle or Star Style.
Certainly, semi-stars like Cory Kennedy, Leigh Lezark and this Harley girl could be in this new sub-forum, but I am also thinking largely of what I called local hometown style heroes (for lack of a better description). These are people who have distinguished themselves as being stylish in their hometowns, but are not nationally known. For instance, there is one person in mind from my city who has the most AMAZING style, and I have been wondering where to share my collection of pics of her on tFS. She is an musician, artist and party promoter who I respect because she busts her butt while looking uniquely funky, sprite-like and elegant all at once. In the same way that I collect photos of my favorite stars like Chloe Sevigny and Sofia Coppola, I have collected tons of photos of my hometown style hero over the past couple of years from all different kinds of websites (not just myspace). In fact, I actually admire this unnamed girl's style MORE than I admire any celebrity's style. It would be great if we had a sub-forum to celebrate and examine the style of these kinds of people.
The mods must have given this issue a lot of consideration already. Perhaps a sub-forum like this would not align with the goals of tFS. If that's the case, then that's fair enough. I can respect that. I admit that I can see the potential for abuse and how such a sub-forum and its threads could get out of hand. In all honesty, this whole quick fame without hardwork/real talent business is really getting on my nerves. But the reality is that more and more "interesting looking" people are coming out of the woodwork, and this phenomenon ought to be addressed properly on tFS. There is much truth to susie_bubble's 2007 prediction--i.e., that 50 threads for Harley-type girls will crop up in the Star Style forum. Whether this actually happens or not is not absolutely certain, but I think she hit the sentiment right on the dot. Style standouts occur everywhere, not just in Hollywood, and as we can see on tFS, there is a very real desire to admire and scrutinize these people as individuals, not solely as part of a scene or as part of a city.
