yeah. Birkenstocks and girls without bras.
it's a really liberal scene up there. when i went to Berkeley, i saw quite a few Rastafarians selling beaded jewelry across the street from the UC campus, lots of colour, baggy clothing, etc. not sure if it has changed in the past 4 years though
but Bay Area style is different all around, if you are in Berkeley it's different than what you'd most likely see in the city of San Francisco. it depends i guess.
totally opposite from SF which is more back east stylish, in certain circles anyway.
totally!!!
there were still some of the frizzy haired, bra-less, Birkenstock wearing women traveling around. but mostly they dress for comfort, i saw a lot in Urban Outfitters/Gap/Old Navy basics and warm clothing since the three stores were across the street from the campus.
San Francisco, like you said is very Boston/New York style with the warm clothing, trench coats, etc. but the club/hipster scene reminds me of LA's hipster scene (which is totally bad) and a bit of the German's "revival" of 80's jazzercise gear with a bit of drag queen chic.

think we need a little better style blog though. though i really don't see many inspiring looks when walking around the city, and haven't seen anything new at clubs/gigs lately.
I would love to see some photos. I haven't been back there in a about five years (too many). I adore the whole Bay Area, Oakland, Berkeley and San Fran.
^ same here. i love the bay area. it's the East Coast on the West. when i went up there, i didn't find any interesting fashion. all i saw were the chrome painted street performers on the Wharf.

Well that could be because you hung out on the wharf. So many other neighborhoods to hang in and gawk: The Mission, SOMA, around Fillmore, out in The Richmond, and let's not forget Hayes Valley, Portrero, the Castro. Explore!!
