Gene Tierney

In my opinion, one of the most stunning and underrated actors of her generation ... the first time I saw her my jaw dropped. It's difficult to tell from the pics, but on film, she disgustingly beautiful. (this thread, by the way, was inspired by the Keira Knightley one, where someone commented she had an overbite like Gene)
All pics imbd

she always struck me as modern-looking as well, like she could be an actress from a later generation

oh, and lets not forget she was married to the amazing oleg cassini for many years

info about gene:
With prominent cheekbones and the most appealing overbite of her day, her striking good looks helped propel her to stardom. Her best known role is the enigmatic murder victim in Laura (1944).

Her first daughter was born mentally retarded because Gene had contracted measles during a U.S.O. tour. This served as the uncredited inspiration for the plot of the 1980 Agatha Christie movie The Mirror Crack'd (1980).

During her first film she discovered that her voice was too high and it was suggested that she take up smoking to lower her voice. It worked, but she eventually died of emphysema.

Darryl F. Zanuck, founder of the 20th Century Fox, said she was unquestionably the most beautiful woman in movie history.

Had her share of love affairs during her Hollywood reign, including a notorious one with John F. Kennedy, whom she met while filming Dragonwyck (1946).

Tierney was in the throes of suicidal depression and was admitted to the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, Kansas, on Christmas Day in 1957, after police talked her down from a building ledge

as i said, its hard to tell from pics, but she wasn't cookie-cutter beautiful ...she was different looking, very quirky, less of a bombshell than, say, lana turner...

Great job opening a thread on Gene Tierney, vikingqueen

Tierney will always be one of the all-time legendary beauties because of the movie, LAURA. I just saw that movie again after many years and it's still indelible. Great wardrobe designed by Oleg too

yes! you're the one who inspired the thread! it was so funny you mentioned her name b/c she is my favourite actress of that era...laura was one of the most haunting movies i've seen. it's difficult to find pics of her, though...too bad she's not as greatly appreciated as she should be.

She's pretty...I don't know why but she reminds me of Rachel McAdams even though they look nothing alike.

yes, you're right. it's hard to find lots of pics of her so you did a great job.
the story of her first child is so tragic. i admire her for giving up Hollywood and living a normal life later in her life
