TFS Does Paris: 2008 Shopping Trip

New thread for the possible trip. Mods, if you can think of a better location please move it. Thanks!

If you're interested in the trip to Paris, please post here! Need input about month, specific dates, itinerary, etc.

Thank you so much francofille for starting this thread.

I was thinking about January 2008....say the 9-14? or something like that.

I wanted to propose a hotel near Galleries Lafayette, where there are a lot of shops around the Galleries as well.

Of course we'll do other stuff like Les Champs Elyses, and make a point of visiting Chanel, Freelance, Loboutin, etc...

well I posted this in the other thread too

^ Galleries Lafayette really isnt that good imo Printemps & Colette are far better. Theres loads of vintage shops I went to which are the best in Paris (Scarlett on Avenue Montaigne and Griff'troc on boulevard de Courcelles.) There was also great place on the rue de la Verrerie that sells discounted Alaia. I stayed in hotel on Avenue de l'Opéra at it was near both Galleries & Printemps, and everything else was easy to get to.

Really, a hotel anywhere in central Paris is fine - the transportation system (ie: metro, buses, trains, taxis) is so prevalent and widely used that is poses no problem to travel all around Paris, regardless of where your hotel is located. I've stayed in the 5th, 6th, 13th and 16th arrondisements with relatively little problems. If we're planning on doing a TON of shopping daily and numerous bags might pose a problem, then a hotel in the innermost arrondisements is probably best.

^ I believe that they do take place in the summer and I completely agree that it'd be amazing.

I would love to go and I hope that I can make it.
