Sruli Recht says that his blood gets on everything he makes, which is easy to believe considering the intricacy of his work and the fact that he fully engages in manufacturing of his items.
Sruli’s multi-tasking abilities are truly extraordinary: apart from making clothes, he has ventured into video and hologram installations, illustration of children’s books and record covers, footwear and sunglasses design, ‘top secret’ fabric development and consulting for other fashion labels. He has also produced a number of bizarre one-off items such as a bullet-proof pocket square, a buck-less belt and the ‘Umbuster’ - an umbrella holder slash murder weapon.
His products are both playfully sinister and beautiful in a slightly disturbing way. With names such as Death Sequence jacket, Shooting Brace and Corrective Brace, his garments would do well as costumes for Mika Kaurismäki’s post-apocalyptic Last Border.
