JEAN-CHARLES DE CASTELBAJAC, DESIGNER PROFILE
Things didn’t slow down from there with JC/DC designing the Sportmax line for MaxMara along with creating looks for the iconic “Charlie’s Angel” television show.

And, way before Nicolas Ghesquiere was hailed for his painted Balenciaga pieces, JC/DC experimented with the technique before moving on to dresses that paid tribute to everyone from Mickey Mouse (his S/S 2009 collection was likewise inspired by Mickey Mouse and Lego), to Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Before long JC/DC was expanding with gloves, socks, and French berets and had his very on exhibition at the Modern Art Museum of Troyes (a collaboration with Snoopy incorporated). Further exhibits followed at FIT in New York and at the MAK in Vienna, among others, along with more costume design projects including for the hit “Mrs. Doubtfire” – the multi-dimensional designer even designed liturgical cloths for Pope Jean-Paul II. Lest we forget, JC/DC also forayed into furniture design with a Ligne Roset collaboration.

Throughout the years the prolific designer never ceased to design, keeping-up with the times while staying true to his roots. A noteworthy highlight in his fruitful career came in 2007 when the Fashion Museum of Paris honored him with a retrospective of his 40 years of design.
