If you saw yesterday’s post, then you saw that I recently attended the opening event for Nordstrom Rack’s Sunvalley store in the Bay Area. And as you can imagine, with rack after rack of pieces from my favorite designers and prices up to 70% off retail, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to put together three new looks for fall. But shopping smart isn’t just about splurging wisely; it’s about finding pieces that will work hard for a variety of occasions too. So I shopped with the goal of putting together a few looks — one for work, one for date night and one for the weekend.
I’d say it was a pretty successful trip. My first find was this DvF Aida two-tone tweed dress, originally priced at $485, but reduced to $197.97 at Nordstrom Rack. And because Gwyneth and I rarely see things in black and white, we paired it with a pair of Kate Spade sapphire patent leather pumps and Rebecca Minkoff’s Affair bag to add color with our favorite fall jewel tones.
Shifting gears from work to date night, I also found this Rebecca Taylor studded dress — marked down to $199.97 from $450. For you sub-six-foot-gals, we think this would be a real stunner with a pair of black platform heels. But since I clock in at 6’0″, the dress is short and fitted, I opted for black flats instead. You’ve got to know when to say when. Another piece of advice — it’s best to leave the serious baggage at home for date night, so I paired it with a black Hobo clutch instead of my usual 30 pounder. (Bonus, it was also marked down to $59.97 from $116.00!)
Lastly, to increase my odds of putting my new Rebecca Taylor date night dress to good use, I put together an outfit that works for weekend errands. If you’re like me and think sweatpants should be worn exclusively in the privacy of your own home, then allow me to introduce you to these comfy “Straight and Narrow Joe’s Jeans” (reduced to $79.97 from $174) and this Rebecca Taylor charcoal tweed jacket (reduced to $197.97 from $450).
