Thakoon Fall 2011 Runway Review

Thakoon certainly knows how to work a print. Not since Diane von Furstenburg have we seen a designer work so successfully with a mixture of prints on a seemingly endless stream of wearable dresses and separates.

From the moment the first few Masai plaid looks debuted, it was evident that Thakoon’s success is building and there is no end in sight. Checks and tartans were masterfully paired with inspired prints and proportioned cuts, but unfortunately it would appear we are seeing the return of the puffer jacket with Thakoon not being the only designer to show them this week. The beauty look included pink eyeshadow, as seen at Couture week last month, and large tribal buns to match the African influenced prints.

Streamlined outerwear and monochromatic day looks will prove perfect for the gallerista young professional that has come to love Thakoon’s signature daywear. Slim cut trousers and structural jackets rounded out the collection that is sure to prove as saleable as it is editorial.
