Donna Karan Fall 2011 Runway Review

Decadent draping in sultry silk fabrications is her trademark, and Donna Karan exhibits her talent again in her Fall 2011 collection. A lineup consisting of only soft grey, nude and blush tones may sound redundant, but there was nothing boring about her designs. The high-end, glamorous collection included fur trim jackets, chiffon hoodies, body hugging silk jersey dresses, and exquisite beaded skirts. There was a retro feel in the styling, including elbow length gloves and a 60s inspired hairstyle.

Standout styles included a silk charmeuse cocktail dress in pebble grey, a beaded coat and skirt with fur cuffs, and a gorgeous, camel color raincoat with cinched waist. Trouser pants were draped into a harem style pant with a slightly slimmer version at the leg.

Wool, knee length pencil skirts paired with silk blouses were shown in several flesh tones and a gorgeous asymmetrical gown in metallic gunmetal was a top crowd pleaser. Donna Karan showed a sophisticated, beautiful collection in a variety of neutral tones that didn’t disappoint.
