Elie Tahari Fall 2011 Runway Review

The Elie Tahari Fall 2011 Collection was a presentation of extravagantly rich and decadent clothing. Typically known for sleek office wear, this collection does not belong in a cubicle. The monochromatic tailored pieces were designed in fur, lace, velvet, and a variety of silk fabrications.

The collection started off with a series of black looks in seductive lace tops and tailored pants with long, cape-like chiffon draping. A variety of textures were mixed to create complexity such as a fur coat with shiny, animal print trousers. Luxury and drama were the key themes here along with layering. The palette included black, white, taupe, wine and warm shades of animal print.

Beautiful and theatrical, the collection not typical of Tahari may give the designer some added attention and open up a new luxury market for the line.
