This week, on Bastille Day, famed French fashion house Longchamp celebrated their 60th anniversary on the roof deck of their spectacular 9,830-square-foot Soho Boutique -- La Maison Unique Longchamp (designed by Thomas Heatherwick and located on 132 Spring Street, New York).
Prior to the Manhattan celebration, Longchamp, which began as a pipe and tobacco company in the ‘40s and remains a family-operated business, celebrated its anniversary with a Paris bash and the introduction of two limited-edition collections.
Belgian artist Jean-Luc Moerman designed a 60-piece collection with his signature loops and scribbles. The original silk-screened bags were sold for $6,500 each, but reproductions have also been produced. Further, the Bastille Day Soho celebration and the July 2nd anniversary fete at the L'Elysée Montmartre in Paris both featured an art installation by Moerman produced in Collaboration with Deitch Projects
