Famed makeup artist Paul Starr was found dead at the age of 48 in his Los Angeles apartment on Tuesday, August 20^th.

Starr spent the last two decades working as a makeup artist for the likes of Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Garner, Lindsay Lohan, Joni Mitchell, and Jessica Alba, as well as with fashion heavyweights Jean Paul Gaultier, Sass & Bide, Vivienne Westwood, and Dolce & Gabbana. The talented artist also collaborated with photography legends Herb Ritts, Helmut Newton, Peter Lindbergh and Ellen Von Unwerth, and with directors Tim Burton, Spike Lee, and Paul Hunter among others.

In 2003, the prolific Starr released a book Paul Starr on Beauty: Conversations with Thirty Celebrated Women and in 2005 he helped train a team of makeup artist that traveled the globe on behalf of Estée Lauder. The cause of his death is still unknown.
