It was a long wait getting into the small space where Rebecca Minkoff unveiled her Spring/Summer 2011 collection, but the show was well worth it.
One of the most stylish contemporary apparel designers, Rebecca Minkoff also debuted a footwear line focusing on comfort and height; the line even included flat shoes with hidden, built-in platforms. Most of the 25 styles have Minkoff’s signature leather "MAB flap" detailing (MAB refers to her famed Morning After Bag). They’ll be priced in line with her other offerings at between $160 and $395.
This season, Minkoff’s apparel was inspired by “the ultimate vagabond – a girl yearning for juxtaposed glamor, transfixed by reconstructed vintage and 70’s-inspired frocks that include traces of seductress Bianca Jagger, and the late soulful Janis Joplin.”
This translated into a mixed color palette that included neutrals, black, and sensuous reds, and a combination of slouchy and more structured silhouettes. Contrasting texture, as seen in the shorts accented with pearlized leather, gave depth to the designer’s wholly wearable collection.
