Blumarine S/S 2011: Milan Fashion Week

This season, Molinari – the queen of maximalism – showed a bold collection filled with bright colors and spots. Animal motifs have played a secondary role on the runway in the past few seasons, but given the amount of leopard seen on the front rows at both NYFW and LFW, it would seem Molinari is right on the mark.

Buyers and editors had stars in their eyes and smiles on their faces throughout the show. The clothes were simple, well-made, and perfectly wearable – qualities hard to find at this level.

Prints came in all shades and colors, from classic neutrals to pastel brights and a hint of ombré. Oversized butterflies rounded out the prints that adorned everything from staple tunics and caftans to mini-dresses.

The show was a sensory overload altogether, but it is clear this collection will be a hit. Each piece made a statement without being too over-the-top and kitsch.
