Japan Fashion Week S/S 2011

With 49 participating designers and a ton of exciting events, the Spring 2011 season is poised to be bigger than ever.

Some of the more noteworthy collections include Liz Lisa, Nozomi Ishiguro, and Araisara.  These three Japanese favorites represent the great diversity and daring nature of many of the Tokyo Shows.

Liz Lisa, designed by Ayako Kon and Hiromi Sato, presented a frilly, girly collection full of florals, ribbons, and bows for Spring 2011.

At Nozomi Ishiguro, models walked the runway with full, highly-pigmented lips, Converse sneakers, and layers of contrasting fabrics for an eccentric take on daywear.

Designer Sara Arai of Araisara crafted beautiful cocoon and balloon-like shapes, and worked graphic prints into her architectural collection.

As for the events surrounding the fashion shows, among the most talked about is the opening of the Japanese take on famed Parisian nightclub Le Baron. The club is located in Aoyama, and the Le Baron de Paris’ owners teamed up with famed graffiti artist Andre and product designer Marc Newson to open the Aoyama location.

Additionally, Le Baron de Paris has partnered with Paris’ trend-setting boutique Colette for a special Halloween event in Bellesalle, Shibuya at the end of the month. Famous local and international DJs will be on hand to celebrate fashion, music, and the successful Spring 2011 collections.
