Moschino has long been a favorite brand for those with an affinity for quirky-chic fashion. In fact, at one of his recent events, the stylist, interior designer, and reality TV star Robert Verdi, made his grand entrance in a pair of fabulously eye-catching gray sequin, loose-fitting Moschino pants. According to Verdi, they were so old “they were designed back when Franco Moschino was still alive” – it’s safe to say the pants have lasted Verdi more than a decade! Franco Moschino was a genius, but Rossella Jardini has succeeded in continuing to keep the house relevant since she took over in 1994.
Moschino’s diffusion line, Moschino Cheap & Chic, is by far their quirkiest collection. Pre-fall 2011 was heavy on hearts, bows, ruffles, and bold print lettering. Among the stand-out looks were a little black dress with “CHIC” spelled out in thick white lettering, with the “C” forming a wide faux-collar across the model’s neck. Another black dress stood out, this time a nautical-inspired number, with an oversized heart placed off-center on the bottom, giving it a signature Moschino look. Slouchy pants, ruffled polka dot printed shirts, fitted cardigans, and wool coats with oversized bow collars, were also in the mix for what came together as a balanced and crisp collection.
