Donna Karan Pre-Fall 2011

Pre-Fall collections begin hitting stores in May, and trickle in through the middle of summer, so most designers tend to keep weather changes in mind, some offering a mix of cold and warm weather staples, while others go in just one direction. Such is the case with Donna Karan’s pre-fall 2011 collection.

Focused mostly on neutrals, the designer presented a variety of options for day and night, including black tie and cocktail affairs, but stuck to army greens, washy grays, beiges, and browns.  She also presented plenty of layered looks and touches of fur, which means her loyal following is all set for looming breezes.

Karan’s new collection, Lifestyle, is priced 25% lower than the designer’s signature collection and main line. The former takes on a more casual, mix-and-match approach, complete with leather jackets, low slung belts, t-shirt dresses, and fur vests. The latter is focused on structured, pulled-together looks, including slinky evening wear, silk blouses, a business suit-inspired jumper, and high waisted pants.

Many of the Donna Karan signature looks were tightly belted this season, giving feminine appeal to many of the more demure looks.
