Rag & Bone Fall 2011 Menswear Runway Review

An assortment of varsity jackets and windowpane trousers comprise a collection of what can only be described as “street smart.” Rag & Bone’s 2011 Fall runway show was a mixture of urban inspired streetwear and Oxford intellectual suiting. Plaid trousers mixed with letter jackets in bright colors cascaded down the runway. Layered button up shirts, vests, scarves and jackets in preppy prints and a plethora of textures were the main theme in this menswear line.

Bowler hats, beige oxford shoes, color blocking and plaid prints were paired together to create a blend of a downtown, ivy league look. A leather, biker jacket, silk scarf and plaid, grey trousers had a British, downtown hipster feel. Nothing quite worked together, but maybe that was the point.

The overstyled collection may have been trying too hard to force the pairing of these two demographics but it created a colorful collection that was fun to watch. A bold approach, but we will have to wait to see if it’s successful in the retail market.
