DKNY Fall 2011 Runway Review

If you’re looking for a collection that is quintessentially New York, you never need to look further than DKNY. This season, Donna Karan presented another stellar collection that managed to hit on a number of the season’s burgeoning trends while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic for her many customers. DKNY, the more youthful collection from the designer that sells just as well as its parent, is all about smart, sophisticated women and this collection proved a great success.

The Jane Birkin-inspired beauty look was a perfect match for the mod blazers and effortless angora sweaters. Pink and red, a color combination we have been programmed to avoid, is becoming one of this season’s most prevalent trends with the color-saturated separates being standout pieces amongst this collection filled with wearable separates.

Other major trends we saw represented were sheer tops paired with statement outerwear, jackets cut to resemble capes, and a higher neckline for both day and night. This collection is sure to sell well, especially within the fashion community, as the knit puffer jackets and wearable capes are already on stylish folk’s must-have lists.
