Issa designer Daniella Helayel should have a chat with Jason Wu given that her shot to fashion fame was about as stratospheric after Kate Middleton wore one of the designer’s dresses the day she and Prince William announced their engagement, as Wu’s was after First Lady Michelle Obama opted to wear one of his gown to President Obama's inauguration night festivities. That said, Helayel is no newbie to the scene. She’s been stocked by influential retailers like Net-a-Porter for a few seasons now and Fall 2011 marked her 10th anniversary collection.
This season, in Diane von Furstenberg style, the designer gave us plenty of her signature looks – namely monochromatic, long slinky, draped jersey gowns, wrap dresses, and flouncy cocktail dresses, all of which make for great closet staples. She also, however, supplemented her body-hugging dresses with languid coats, pleated skirts, and simple monochromatic tops.
Many of the looks came in a pheasant print, a brand signature, which plays in well with the wildlife trend we saw during the New York Fashion Week shows.
