Max Mara Fall 2011 Runway Review

In true Max Mara form, this season’s collection was a clean and sophisticated lineup. There was a surprising amount of white for a Fall collection, but the airy, neutral palette just further underscored the beauty of the cozy outwear pieces that made their way down the runway.

Whether shapely tailored, belted, blanket-like, embellished with fur, or done-up more casually in the form of a parka, every look was sleek, utterly wearable, and season-less.

Worth noting is the continuation here of the tartan trend we saw in London. It made its way in both light and dark iterations on a slew of garments including a cozy, fringed, blanket skirt and blanket coat, which were minimal while still feeling fresh and original. Capping off the show was an iridescent, strapless gown that proved when it comes to refined, understated elegance, Max Mara can be counted on to deliver.
