Gianfranco Ferre Fall 2011 Runway Review

The collections for Gianfranco Ferré always involve a grand gesture. The textiles are always sumptuous, the cuts precise, and aesthetic clear. In spite of its seemingly small client base, the team behind Ferré knows how to please.

With a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired collection that’s architectural lines were meticulous, designers Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Rimondi have taken their glamorous woman’s wardrobe to a minimalist and wearable place. The notion of Italian glamour is slowly receding with the rise of more and more sophistication coming out of New York and the effects have finally hit the mainland.

Ferré’s no-holds-barred luxurious looks were executed with the expected level of taste and elegance and the smoothest of leathers were paired with luxe cashmere coats and panels of wool and velvet. The daywear was chic but the eveningwear even more so. Black glitter, navy, and silver lame rounded out the collection and blended seamlessly with the more casual looks.
