Just Cavalli Fall 2011 Runway Review

Past licensing disputes may have some wondering how much input Roberto Cavalli currently has with his diffusion line, Just Cavalli, especially after seeing the jumbled Fall 2011 collection. Even by Roberto Cavalli’s ostentatious, flamboyant standards that tend to overflow with loud clashing prints, glittering embellishments, and tiered chiffon, this season’s collection was a lot to take in.

Cowboy-style denim, painterly wave-accented dresses, saturated hues in 60s-style prints, 70s-style bell bottoms, Chubaka-like fur, frumpy tiered dresses, and clashing and layered prints made for a particularly dizzying collection of cluttered looks. The most unfortunate aspect of this season’s Just Cavalli collection, however, was that when a flattering, wearable piece did make its way down the runway, it was often improperly fitted. Given that the Just Cavalli woman tends to be one who wants to show off her figure, this is especially problematic.

I never thought I would miss leopard print this much.
