Sure, Los Angeles can’t boast about Oscar de la Renta or Ralph Lauren showing their collections during L.A. Fashion Week, but given L.A.’s film culture, it’s little surprise that the city has been working hard to get its Fashion Week on the radar of the world’s most influential buyers, editors, and stylists.
While only time will tell if they succeed in luring A-list costume designers, stylists, and celebrities to their runways, impressive strides were made this past February when Concept Los Angeles Fashion Week staged a multi-brand presentation at 250 Park Avenue in New York City. This allowed many New York Fashion Week attendees who might not be familiar with Concept Los Angeles Fashion Week, which has staged shows and presentations scheduled around L.A. Fashion Week for the last two seasons (think of it as the fashion equivalent of Design Miami, often touted as the young, cool Art Basel), to potentially be persuaded to make a pit stop in L.A. after the Paris Fashion Week shows.
The L.A. Fashion Week dates for Concept Los Angeles Fashion Week are March 10 through March 13, and all the events will be taking place at the Ace Gallery Los Angeles, while L.A. Fashion Week is taking place at various venues throughout L.A. and officially runs from March 13 through March 19. Market Week, centered in the L.A.’s downtown showroom buildings, runs from March 14 to March 17.
