Victoria Beckham is probably one of the only celebrity designers to ever get a positive response from the media. Maybe it’s her gallery style presentations or the fact that her collections are actually very well made but editorial, stylists and actual women are flocking to her slinky dresses and tailored looks. As if the former Spice Girl’s frocks weren’t classy enough, Beckham observed two moments of silence to honor the victims of September 11th.
After memories were paid tribute, Beckham kicked off her collection that included hourglass dresses, tailored outerwear, and soft leather bags alongside her best selling structured ones. Her palette was simple with navy and black, and gray and lilac taking center stage but brief hits of orange lifted the collection to an airier spring place. This season’s athletic trend made an appearance alongside the sophisticated dresses in the form of nylon straps, D-rings, and notions of utility and drop waists were a key feature. Last season’s loose silhouettes were abandoned in favor of built-in bodices with the exception of a few pieces including a hooded satin jacket. Any fashion fans with remaining doubts of Beckham's talent and industry know-how are sure to be appeased this spring.
