Marni Spring 2012 Runway Review

There’s always an element of surprise when you see a new Marni collection. You can be pretty sure there will be some quirky appliqué or interesting shapes but it’s always interesting to see what new concept designer Consuelo Castiglione will be working off of. This season, it was the story of the rundown housewife. Her hair was set and then undone, as if it had been lived in for a few days and was due for a touch-up, and the collection was filled with clean shapes, also slightly undone. Dresses and skirts were paired with long semi-sheer organza underskirts that peeked out at knee length and the palette was a mixture of pure shades such as pastels and jewel toned paired with bold, embellished prints.
