Fall 2012 Bridal Week Recap

The Fall 2012 Bridal collections just wrapped their runway debuts (Oscar de la Renta aside, who showed his Spring 2012 bridal collection this week), and the results included mostly the expected lineup of bows, flowers, tulle, and lace. The one notable exception was Vera Wang who showed a dark Alexander McQueen-esque collection that included a number of beautiful black gowns – that I’d venture to guess many brides will have Wang remake in white.

Oscar de la Renta took the cake this Bridal Week, however, with his dreamy collection full of silk taffeta, tulle, and sequin stunners. Also notable were Monique Lhuillier’s gowns which were heavily bow-embellished this season (most notably, a front slit gown with an oversized bow incorporated into the slit). For more understated, but equally beautiful gowns, brides can turn to Carolina Herrera who showed a streamlined collection that included chic gowns with pockets and prim short dresses. Also worth singling out is Dennis Basso’s debut bridal collection for Kleinfeld. The lineup mixed classic looks with more out-of-the box finds, some of which fell flat – does any bride want to walk down the aisle with a feathered bust? I think not, but you be the judge. Here’s a look at some of the most notable Bridal Week looks.
