Over the years, Target has collaborated with many high-end guest designers including the coveted, yet poorly handled Missoni collection, and next month's Jason Wu for Target collection. Yesterday, however, Target unveiled the next chapter in its design partnership model: The Shops at Target. This will be an ongoing program where Target will partner directly with the shop owners of specialty stores and boutiques to co-create affordable, limited-edition collections.
The first flight of The Shops at Target, which debuts on May 6 at all Target stores and Target.com, features five exclusive collections across five different product categories. The five different U.S. specialty stores include The Candy Store, Cos Bar, Polka Dog Bakery, Privet House, and The Webster. Each of the collections reflects each shop owner’s unique perspective, offering Target’s customers the opportunity to experience each shop’s distinct aesthetic simply by shopping at their local Target store or online. Having prices ranging as low as $1 for a nail file to $159.99 for an online-only pouf for the home, there is definitely something in the selection for everyone. Among the five collections there are nearly 400 exclusive products to choose from. Here's a quick look at what to expect:
The Candy Store
The Candy Store is a San Francisco-based candy boutique that features everything from sweets of the past to cutting edge candies. Target’s collaboration with the premiere sweet shop features favorites like Black Licorice Dogs, Gummy Fried Eggs, Caramel Creams, Jaw Breakers, and Round Swirl Lollipops.
The Webster of Miami Beach has a reputation of prestige that is all its own. It's a multi-brand boutique that showcases one-of-a-kind items in addition to exclusive selections of designer labels. This luxury fashion shop is not only a highly curated mix of men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, they have high-end accessories and photography as well, not to mention a fully functioning entertainment space. The Webster's collection with Target will consist of apparel and accessories for women, men, kids, and infants inspired by the essence of Miami. Incorporating the aspects of the Florida sun, featuring flamingo images, and using deco prints, the collection will appear in shades of coral, navy, and green.
Connecticut stationed Privet House is an antique shop that hosts international as well as vintage items. From furniture to mirrors to artwork, Privet House has unique and gorgeous items for the home and garden area. Using the shop's aesthetic and worldly charm, Target is helping create a signature line of décor and accessories for the home, garden, and table.
Cos Bar is a skincare shop that made its start in Aspen, Colorado and expanded to a dozen stores across the country. It takes its cues from European influences, carrying cosmetics, perfume, cologne, grooming products, and skin care for both men and women. With the help of Target, they will be putting out an exclusive collection of body care items, bath accessories, beauty tools, and cosmetic bags in eye-catching prints.
Polka Dog Bakery
Now let's talk about Boston's treat boutique, Polka Dog Bakery. This shop is heaven for dogs, specializing in natural, freshly baked goods, and cute accessories. As one of The Shops at Target, they are producing signature "doggie delights" including General Bow Wow’s Chicken Biscuits, The Big Dig Cheese Biscuits, and Snickerpoodles Biscuits. They will also be featuring bold and stylish accessories like bowls, collars, toy balls, harnesses, and food mats.
