After last season’s graffiti-like color explosion I wasn’t sure what to expect from Nicole Miller, but I was hoping she would go back to her roots and showcase classic, contemporary wears that were just pretty. Unfortunately, Fall 2012 didn’t include all that much in the way of classic Miller and instead last season’s graffiti was replaced with a parade of hippie prints and seventies silhouettes.
Psychedelic looks were out in full force with wide brim hats, busy prints, rusty hues, wide sleeves, and belted loose fitting trousers. The problem with the collection was that Miller’s looks appeared as though they were straight out of the seventies, versus inspired by the seventies and updated into modern times. That’s not to say that there weren’t some appealing pieces – most notably fur trimmed outerwear – but the overall effect was one that was just a little too dated.
