3.1 Phillip Lim Fall 2012 Runway Review

One of the strongest NYFW collections thus far, Phillip Lim presented a fantastic line-up of impeccably cut pieces. Inspired by neo-noir comics, the designer’s inspiration came through most notably via capes, collarless coats, sharp slits in fitted tops, a trompe l’oeil bustier on a jumpsuit, paneled blazers, and black and white paneled pieces that appeared to mimic superhero dress. That said, there was nothing remotely costume-y about the utterly sophisticated collection.

Accessories are always a strong point for Lim (as evidenced by the number of Pashli Satchels spotted this NYFW) and this season included shoes with black and white blocked chunky heels, flats with wing-like panels, and a slew of sure-to-be-hot selling fold-over oversized clutches.
