Alberta Ferretti Fall 2012 Runway Review

If Gucci and Alberta Ferretti’s collections are any indication, the winter white from New York and the saturated prints from London will have no place in Milan. Ferretti went in a gothic and romantic direction, not unlike Giannini. The collection was rife with long pleats, sheer touches of chiffon, fur, leather, and embroidery, all of which came in an exclusively dark palette.

That said, there was still an ethereal quality to the designs, even when silhouettes were stringent, making for a balanced collection that included beautiful monochrome belted coats (worn as dresses), fur-accented knits, a paneled leather dress, and an array of sheer chiffon embroidered gowns which closed out the show.
