Max Mara Fall 2012 Runway Review

Can one ever have too many camel coats? If they’re from Max Mara, I think not. With bare makeup and hair up in two center-parted chignons, this season the focus was kept on Max Mara’s sleek, streamlined sportswear. Coats were impeccably cut and though they recall many seen on past Max Mara runways, they’re exactly what the brand’s customer wants – comfortable, clean-lined, but undeniably sophisticated outerwear.

A running military theme pervaded the collection, most notably via the khaki colored trenches, bomber jackets, white leg trousers, loose fitted jumpers, fitted caps, and buckle-accented legwarmers. The military inspiration further tied into some of the masculine-inspired looks, which made for some standout houndstooth separates (some of which included matching houndstooth bags – yes houndstooth on houndstooth works!), and a few looks styled with suspenders.
