Fendi Fall 2012 Runway Review

The fur sleeves from the New York runways are back at Fendi, along with fur on just about everything (we’re talking fur iPad cases and fur fringe shoes here). Little surprise in a season where fur has been so prominently featured that Karl Lagerfeld would go all out given that Fendi is, handbags aside, best known for its furs. This season’s furs were elaborate, often boasting oversized sculpted shoulders, a shaggy mane, and they were often fashioned in striking shades, including flashes of yellow and ombré.

The overall color palette, however, was in keeping with what we’ve been seeing in Milan thus far, which is to say it was dark, with lots of black, brown, dark green, and gray. Leather and texture too (notably via crocodile skin) played an important role in the collection making for a range of structured pieces to complement the fur skirts, tops, and outerwear.
