Emporio Armani Fall 2012 Runway Review

Ruffles, peplum, and oversized 3-D florals may be a dime a dozen these days but Giorgio Armani managed to make them feel fresh in his Fall 2012 Emporio Armani lineup – notably via tiered ruffled deep-V dresses and ones with an oversized 3-D floral insert.

As has been the case at most of the major Milan shows this season, the color palette at Armani was kept dark. What was surprising, however, was that the designer opted to show a slew of trousers that were cuffed and cut to hit just above the knee; they were paired with tights and flats, but they nonetheless made for a surprising choice for a Fall collection.

Velvet was also prominently featured, another bubbling Milan trend, along with painterly prints, foliage cut-outs, and 50s-style party dresses.
