Nina Ricci Fall 2012 Runway Review

By now it’s pretty clear that Nina Ricci under Peter Copping will be ultra feminine and romantic, but this season the Nina Ricci girl added a little swagger to her look. 1950s dress-up box inspired, the collection ranged the gamut from the lingerie-like to the luxe with opera gloves and fur trim, all the while frayed edges gave the lineup a vintage feel.

Cinched waists (in a nod to 50s romanticism, one look included an oversized bow) and black dominated the collection, but given the lightweight fabrics used, there was nothing austere about any of the silhouettes. Speaking of ease, Copping worked in a fur stole with gloves attached with thread — elementary school style — for a cute play on the art of childhood dressing up.
