Celine Fall 2012 Runway Review

Sticking to the chic minimalist aesthetic that has catapulted Celine into one of the most lauded – and thanks to their handbags, most omnipresent – editor favorites, Philo expanded her silhouettes this season showing monochrome boxy oversized coats and loosely fit menswear-inspired trousers. The most memorable looks mixed fabrics – a vertically color-blocked jacket with leather and fur, for example – creating more fashion-forward takes on minimalist looks. Speaking of leather, it was prominently featured this season, but never felt overly hard-edged or stiff (the neck scarves worn by the models are made of leather!). Color-blocking too recurred throughout the collection, making for particularly strong geometric tops and coats.

As for the handbags, expect rectangle flat clutches to be all the rage in a few months.
