The word before his show was that Kanye West’s shoes this season were “un-walkable” and the buckled over-the-knee boots pretty much looked as though they lived up to those claims. Luckily, the models seemed to pull them off as they took to the runway in front of the likes of Kim Kardashian, Diddy, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys and, proving that he does have some fashion credibility, Stefano Pilati, Anna Wintour, and Andre Leon Talley. Ironically enough, it turned out that those shoes and a few oversized bags/backpacks were among the most noteworthy items in the collection.
Fall 2012 was certainly a big step up from his debut, but there was still something contrived and forced about the leather and fur-heavy collection – in other words, it was fitting that Kardashian was front row. Slightly flared at the hem leather skirts, Chewbacca-like fur outerwear, and high collar monochrome tops fell particularly flat, while biker jackets stood out as the most well executed.
