The Queen’s Golden Jubilee is fast approaching, and so, an international array of celebrities are already getting ready to party. This includes a Jubilee-inspired collection by Vivienne Westwood, and Karl Lagerfeld turning television commentator in order to provide coverage of events taking place on the day for channel France 2. If that’s not exciting enough, London’s leading luxury department stores, Harrods and Harvey Nichols are launching a competition to get members of the general public to help to transform their windows into a Fifties style street party just to celebrate the occasion. So, upload your Pinterest mood board entries now to become a part of UK history.
Vivienne Westwood’s Jubilee-Inspired Collection
Westwood’s Red Carpet Capsule Collection is apparently inspired by some of the Queen’s own royal gowns, so get ready for some breathtaking occasion wear, which is nonetheless infused with the Brit designer’s legendary style characteristics. The collection includes luxurious fabrics and subtle tones; a wardrobe most definitely fit for a Queen, or even the Duchess of Cambridge. We could easily picture Kate gracing some glamorous events in these pieces, but in reality, that sadly may not happen since good old Viv publicly called Kate unstylish. But who knows? Fashion is one fickle playground.
Right Royal Style
London’s famous Victoria and Albert Museum is also playing its part in the celebrations as it’s set to host an exhibition dedicated to the Queen. This will feature photographs of the Queen taken over the years by royal photographer Cecil Beaton, which predominantly means that we will get to look back and remember her extravagant and luxurious style from years gone by. Think of a mix between her pretty tea dresses for her casual playing in the back garden with the corgis days, meets full on diva glam with her diamond encrusted gowns accessorised with a blinging crown!
